KIDS' EVENTS

5th Grade Song: Annually the 5th Graders are the closing act at the Talent Show, singing a song especially remastered for their graduating class, as well as at their Moving Up ceremony!  The Talent Show is on Sunday, May 19th.  A BIG thank you to Vera and Brian Sizensky who reworked the popular song "See You Again" (Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa).  We are going to hold a few before school rehearsals, listed below, to practice.  The first one is 4/22, the first day back after break!  Thank you in advance for bringing your children to the rehearsals!

Talent show dress rehearsal on 5/13 at 3:30 pm in the Mill Hill Gym.

5th Grade Breakfast: DATE CHANGE - The special 5th Grade Breakfasts will resume on May 1st (Rain Date, May 2nd) and the final breakfast will be on June 5th (Rain Date, June 6th)
 
Grit & Wit:
 
  • On Friday, May 3, 3024 from 9:30-12:30, we will be having a Roger Ludlowe Middle School incoming 6th grader outing where all current 5th graders from Mill Hill, Sherman, Dwight and Riverfield will be attending. The rain date is Friday, May 10th. 
  • We have an amazing company called Grit 'N Wit running the day (at Sullivan Field).  They will be challenging the kids to both mental and physical obstacles as a way to meet and connect with students from the other schools. Here's a video to give you a taste of what the day is all about: Grit 'N Wit is coming to Fairfield Public Schools on May 3rd! 
  • Also, Fit Club has generously donated their time to help out at the event with various games and activities.  Please consider signing yourself, or even your child, up for one of their great programs!  Fit Club offers personalized training, small group sessions, and dynamic fitness classes. Their experienced staff focuses on biomechanics to help you exceed your goals,  whether you're an athlete or seeking rehabilitation.
  • Permission slips and waiver forms were due MONDAY, April 22nd.  If they got lost along the way, we have attached the permission slip and the waiver form that you can also print out and scan back to Polixene Petrakopoulos at pjcontratto@gmail.com. 
  • The students will be bussed from Mill Hill to Sullivan Field and back. 
  • Volunteers: We are looking for 12 parent volunteers to help out on May 3rd from  9:15-12:30.  We have also included sign-ups for the May 10th rain date.  This is a great opportunity to be outside with the kids and see them interact with their peers from both Mill Hill and the other schools.     • Bring water bottle
    • Wear sunscreen!
    • Wear 5th Grade (blue hawk) shirt
 
5th Grade Activity Day: June 3 (r/d 4th), the class will be taking a field trip to Westport YMCA for the annual 5th Grade Activity Day.  More info to come!
 
5th Grade Bonfire: Wednesday, June 5.  More details to come!
 

YEARBOOKS - DEADLINE IS APRIL 30Th

Our 5th Grade Yearbook Committee has been very busy creating this special collection of memories for our graduating class, but they can't do it without you!  Please upload photos of our kids through the years!  When you upload, there is a super easy drop-down menu where the photo can be tagged for the correct folder (i.e. Thru the years, 5th Grade Adventure Park, Baby photo, etc).  Please submit all photos by APRIL 30th! 
 
IMPORTANT: Please upload a BABY PHOTO of your child!!  When you upload, tag it "Baby Photo" and RENAME IT your child's FIRST & LAST name in the file name box next to the photo.
